A Place at the Table Coming to Waco
The hunger documentary, A Place at the Table, is coming to Waco for a screening at the Mayborn Museum Complex, on June 10th from 2-5 p.m.
A Place at the Table introduces viewers to three individuals and their families who, like many around the country, struggle with food insecurity. 1/6th of our population face poverty and hunger.
The screening is hosted by The Texas Hunger Initiative, and is free to attend. Following the screening is a panel discussion. Speakers include WHRI’s Executive Director, Matt Hess, as well as Dr. Gaynor Yancey of the Baylor University School of Social Work, and Cheryl Pooler from Waco ISD Homeless Outreach Services. The panel discussion will focus on hunger as it is experienced in our own community, and will answer questions that the film may generate.
This event is open to the public, and we hope to see you there.
