It’s time for our Fall Vegetable CSA!
The Produce Team at the World Hunger Relief, Inc. Farm is excited to partner with you and your family in supporting our Garden. We’ve listed some FAQ’s to inform and encourage you to try something new this fall!
What is Community Supported Agriculture?
Community Supported Agriculture means a network of individuals and families have agreed to contribute to our farm in exchange for the produce that we grow. CSA is more than just a different way to purchase vegetables. By joining the World Hunger Relief Farm CSA, you are partnering with our organization and supporting our enterprises and goals. CSA benefits our farm, the community, and you!
Why should I participate?
As a WHRI CSA member you will receive an assortment of fresh, seasonal vegetables grown locally and sustainably! Supporting our farm is an excellent way to participate in the local food movement and enjoying produce grown close to home. If you picking up your share on Tuesdays, you can come out to the farm and see exactly where and how we grow your food!
What can I expect in a share?
A weekly share is created based on what’s ready to harvest at the time. The shares are portioned for what a family of four could enjoy within one week. We will include a variety of well-loved vegetables as well as new ones to try. If you have a smaller family, or just want to test it out, half-shares are also available for purchase. The average cost for a share per week comes to less than $25, well below retail price for grocery store veggies!
We will post the veggies of the week a day or two before pick-up so you can plan ahead! We will also include in the post information regarding the vegetables, storage tips, recipes, and farm-fresh stories.
How much does a share cost?
Our two options are pickup Saturday mornings at the Waco Downtown Farmers Market. for $240. We are also now offering delivery! We can delivery to your home or workplace for a few extra dollars a week, bringing the cost to $295 for the entire season The fall season will start late-October and go through December!
