The Village Store, utilizing the principles of fair trade, is our vehicle to help people understand how they can “shop with a conscience” and help others around the world through their purchases. Other items available for purchase at the store include farm fresh eggs, grass finished beef and goat as well as seasonal items such as honey and pecans. We also have a Saturday Farm Stand where you can purchase vegetables grown right here on the farm.
Set up in our straw bale Educational Building, the Village Store is a “storefront” in which we display crafts, food, clothing, housewares, art and toys from around the globe. Working with large certified fair-trade organizations such as Ten Thousand Villages, Equal Exchange and SERRV, we keep a year-round stock of merchandise available for purchase.
We also have begun to obtain products from communities in which our intern alumni are working. This allows us to capture the personal stories of the artisans and craftspeople that produce the goods.
Additionally, we are continually looking to increase the diversity of fair trade items sold at our store and have begun to
work with some smaller organizations that specialize in fair trade goods. These organizations include Rangi Mingi Gallery, Women of the Cloud Forest, Bright Hope International, Global Mamas, Cultural Designs by Kate, and It’s Cactus.
